… and where it all began.
There are 100,000 of us here! I started this account after a three-year, online hiatus when creative burnout struck deep, & I put away my paintbrushes and walked away from an art business that got legs, took off, and ultimately left me in a place quite opposite from the joy that came when the business began taking off.
I was not ok and I struggled for a long time trying to find myself again. I believe we all have many chapters and evolutions of ourselves and our limits are only self-imposed ones. Here to encourage you to move on from what no longer serves you because happiness and joy and the excitement for the anticipation of what each day can bring is something we should all experience.
Then we moved from NYC to Texas and began transforming this house and I thought, “Well this is something I never had on my bingo card – or on my radar EVER – and I don’t know exactly where this is all gonna go but we are having fun and making a mess – maybe someone else will find humor or learn something with us?!”
So after a three-year, online hiatus I got the courage to step back in and pressed “post.”
I’ve reconnected with friends, made new ones, kept up with my family, and turned that post into a mission of inspiring a community – along with reminding myself, daily – that we are unboxable. We aren’t meant to fit into a checkbox, a line, or a bubble on a scantron (child of the 80s☝🏻.) We are multifaceted beings capable of both bizarre and mundane ideas and day-to-day tasks.
Designing and decorating our spaces and our lives should never look like anyone else’s. We can be inspired by all of the things around us and all of the people we’re lucky enough to cross paths but to design a life that lights YOU up will take an ordinary day or situation and transform it into something extraordinary. Just like you.
You are magical and I’m so grateful for any second of the day you come by and say hi or comment or when you tell me how I’ve helped you frame a fresh perspective. I’m learning every day, and I know you are, too, because otherwise – what the heck is the point?
